OpsX Reference

Operator Menu & Controls

A single-file operator reference for every on-screen button, status indicator, and RC hardware mapping in the OpsX app, including the live video stream and the 911 & Unit AR overlay. The app runs landscape only.

What This Covers

The left control rail, the camera info row, the bottom streaming bar, status indicators, RC hardware buttons, AR / detection features, and the settings dialog.

Beta This is a beta version of the app and is subject to change.

Live video stream 911 & Unit AR Thermal & zoom cameras AI detection

1. Left-Edge Control Rail

The vertical button stack down the left side of the live video. Tap to toggle; a few buttons add a long-press action.

Lens Toggle

Switches the main video source between the wide and zoom cameras. The lens info label updates to match.

IR

IR / Thermal Toggle

Switches the stream to the infrared (thermal) camera and reads back the thermal display mode so the on-screen labels stay in sync.

AI

AI Detection Matrice 4 series

Starts or stops DJI auto-sensing object detection. Detection boxes appear on the live video. Enabled only on Matrice 4 series aircraft.

Anomaly Detection (RX) Beta

Toggles RX anomaly detection, which highlights regions that stand out from the scene background.

HSV

Color Detection Beta

Toggles the HSV color-range analyzer that boxes pixels inside a target color band.

Spotlight Matrice 4 series

Toggles the aircraft spotlight / searchlight. Uses payload widgets first, then falls back to native DJI spotlight keys.

FLASH

Blink Matrice 4 series

Toggles spotlight blinking. Only shown when the connected payload reports blink support.

LED

Toggles the aircraft navigation LEDs. The icon shows red when the LEDs are off.

2. Camera Info Row

Tappable text labels at the top-right, under the status row. The row is lens-dependent. Only the labels relevant to the active camera show.

Three Lens Layouts

The whole on-screen UI re-arranges with the active camera. This is what each layout shows:

Thermal PIP behaviour
In thermal PIP mode the AR overlay and the AI / Anomaly / Color detectors are hidden (and AI detection is stopped). They return in THERMAL ONLY mode.

Camera Info Row Labels

EV

Exposure Compensation

Opens a selector for the EV step; label shows the live value (EV 0.0). Hidden on the thermal lens.

ISO

ISO Sensitivity

Opens the ISO selector; label shows ISO Auto or the chosen fixed value. Hidden on the thermal lens.

Night Scene

Toggles the zoom camera's Night Scene mode for low-light capture. Label turns orange when active.

IR

IR Cut

Toggles the IR-cut filter on the zoom camera. Label turns orange when the filter is engaged.

WH

Thermal Palette

Opens the thermal color palette selector (White-Hot, Black-Hot, Ironbow, etc.). Label text shows the active palette code.

T

Thermal Mode (PIP)

Cycles THERMAL ONLY and PIP (picture-in-picture with the zoom camera). Entering PIP auto-enables link zoom and hides the AR overlay plus the detector buttons.

FFC

FFC (Flat-Field Correction)

Triggers a thermal FFC calibration on the IR sensor. A toast confirms success or failure.

GB

Free Space

Read-out of remaining storage space on the aircraft (Free: --). Display only, not tappable.

Thermal camera menu
Palette, Thermal Mode, and FFC appear together as the thermal camera menu at the top right of the camera view. They show only when the thermal camera is activated.

3. Bottom Bar & Streaming

The brand row at the bottom-left, plus the record indicator and zoom keys.

Microphone

Toggles local microphone uplink to the OpsX stream.

Cast / Livestream

Starts or stops the OpsX livestream manually. Requires an access code and operator ID. Opens Settings if either is missing.

Long-press · start / stop stream green = streaming red = stopped

Settings (Gear)

Opens the connection dialog for the access code and operator ID. AES-GCM is inherited from the OPSx SC-configured session. See section 7.

Record Indicator

Starts or stops local recording on the aircraft camera.

Steps the optical / digital zoom in by one increment.

4. Status Row & Indicators

The top-right telemetry cluster and the warning chips. Most are display-only; a few are tappable.

AR

AR Sync Label

Shows AR-overlay sync state. Tapping it re-fetches terrain elevation and magnetic declination for the current position.

RC Signal

Remote-controller link strength, shown as RC --%. Display only.

GPS Satellites

Live GPS satellite count next to the GPS icon. Display only.

Home Icon

Performs a LookAt toward the home point. The gimbal aims at the recorded home location.

Battery

Aircraft battery percentage with icon (--%). Display only.

Health Warning

Appears when the aircraft reports faults. Tap to open a dialog listing every Caution / Warning / Critical message, color-coded by severity.

AirSense (ADS-B)

Shows nearby ADS-B aircraft traffic. Tap for a detailed list of distance, bearing, altitude difference, and ETA.

Address Lookup Label

Reverse-geocoded address under the camera info row. Polls every 2 s from the laser coordinates. White on success, red on error.

FPV

FPV Widget & Compass

Bottom-center attitude / heading widget with a compass ring. The center dot marks the laser aim point; laser coordinates render below it.

AirSense (ADS-B) Filtering What shows, and when

AirSense traffic is filtered before it reaches the screen or the OpsX portal:

  • Altitude window. Only aircraft within 15,000 ft of the drone's altitude are used. Targets that do not report an altitude are still kept.
  • Indicator threshold. The AirSense icon appears only when traffic reaches threat Level 2 or higher. It is tinted by the highest threat present: yellow for Level 2, orange for Level 3, red for Level 4. Level 0 and 1 traffic does not raise the icon.
  • Audio alert. A spoken "traffic" alert sounds once per aircraft at Level 2 or higher. Long-press the icon to mute or unmute.
  • Tap list. Shows every aircraft inside the altitude window, sorted by threat level, with distance, bearing, altitude difference, and ETA.
  • OpsX portal relay. While the stream is running, AirSense traffic is relayed to the OpsX portal whenever "Publish AirSense data" is enabled in Settings (on by default). The same 15,000 ft altitude window applies to what is relayed.

5. RC Hardware Buttons

Physical controls on the DJI remote controller. The customizable buttons L1 / L2 / L3 flank the left of the screen and R1 / R2 / R3 the right.

6. AR Overlay & Detection Features

The 911 & Unit AR layer and the on-device analyzers that draw on the detection overlay.

AR

911 & Unit AR Layer

The 911 & Unit AR layer aligns to live drone position, heading, pitch and altitude. Address and road annotations load on demand from the RC buttons.

RX Anomaly Analyzer Beta

Highlights regions that deviate from the scene background and marks them on screen.

HSV

Color Range Analyzer Beta

Long-press the HSV button to pick a target color range or preset; matches are boxed on screen.

AI

DJI Auto-Sensing Matrice 4 series

DJI object detection. Detection boxes appear on screen and detection info shows above the REC indicator.

Availability
AI Detection is enabled only on Matrice 4 series aircraft. The RX Anomaly and HSV Color tools are beta features.

7. Settings Dialog

Opened by the gear icon in the bottom bar. Settings are saved on the device for next time.

Access Code

The access code that joins you to the live stream session.

Your operator identity / callsign, shown to others on the stream.

Inherited from OPSx SC

No AES-GCM key is entered on the drone side. The drone inherits the encryption state from the OPSx SC-configured session. If AES-GCM is not enabled, the stream still uses TLS transport encryption, but AES-GCM is the stronger end-to-end encryption mode.

Configured in OPSx SC

Enter or clear the AES-GCM key from the OPSx SC operator session. Drone publishers only join the event code and inherit that session security behavior.

Important: For settings changes to take effect, stop and restart the stream. Changing the access code or operator ID reconnects with fresh credentials on the next connection.
